What We Actually Do, In Order
Getting a door back into its channel is the quick part of the visit. Everything below is about making sure it stays there, which is the part worth paying for.
The door gets braced
Before anything else. The weight of an off-track door is running through hardware that has already shifted once, and it can come down when disturbed. Skipping this is how people get hurt doing it themselves.
We take the rollers out of the channel by hand
Each wheel goes back with the weight supported, and the bottom brackets, hinges and cable ends get read on the way for anything that twisted as the door came off.
We look at what is holding the channel up
The visit is decided here. Straightening steel is easy enough, and it will pull out of line again by spring if what holds it has gone soft. The question is whether those lag bolts are biting solid timber or turning in a hole that has been growing for years.
We anchor rather than re-use
Where the fixings have given up, we find solid material to go into instead of putting the same bolts back in the same tired holes. If the rollers are worn through to the pins, we will quote nylon replacements at the same time, since the labor is already spent.
We run it and show you
Uncoupled from the drive, the door gets walked up and down by hand. If it drags anywhere, or refuses to hold position, something is still wrong: dragging points at the rail, refusing to hold points at the counterbalance. The safety eyes are re-aimed last, and the reverse is tested against an obstruction before we leave.

Which is a cheerful conclusion, mostly
The channel is normally fine. Steel that has been running for decades is straight enough to keep, and the repair comes down to anchoring it back into sound material and replacing whatever roller gave up. A smaller job than the state of the door suggests.
